What would you like to happen in 2022 ?
I think most of us would agree, we’d love a cure for diseases facing humanity.
Then there are always personal traits we’d like to buff up a bit, and
there are values in our world we hope to make richer with enlightenment,
spirituality, and lovingness.
How do we accomplished this?
Perhaps, it is with those positive, blessed thoughts that live within us.
Once we activate the best in ourselves, we can affect a better world.
As L.R. Knost expressed it,
“The world waits …for the light that is YOU.”
How we communicate to others, how often we smile,
and how we go the extra mile for those in our lives, all
matter. I believe these are the little wonders that can shape this New Year.
Communication
I recall one friend telling another,
“If I ever have to hear bad news, I want to hear it from you.”
I smiled at the wisdom of these words.
We knew our friend well, and she always spoke
with a healthy dollop of sunshine. No one was
ever attacked personally when she spoke and that was her magic.
When speaking, she used diplomatic kindness as well as a good portion of love.
I thank her and all my friends and family who spoke to me in that fashion;
they taught me with their grace, and for that gift, I will love them always!
The Smile
Ahh the smile! I do believe the smile is a special universal language.
William James, MD insisted that the outer smile changed your inner mood
for the better. Everyone understands the universal effect of a smile,
for it is an internationally, understood language, and
it spreads all that is good.
Go The Extra Mile
I have been fortunate to know many who go that extra mile.
They are innately well wishers. These are the people who give light to
your world with their many kind deeds. They are the friends and family
who will drive a member of your family to an important appointment when you can’t,
they will pick up that loaf of bread when your homebound,
they will always offer supportive words when you need them most,
and they are always present to share their insightful wisdom.
I am so grateful to those in my world who “go the extra mile,”
for I always learn from them, and all that is learned is good, very good.
A lovely young woman recently told me,
“The days are long. but the years are short.”
I thought, “What a wise saying!!!!!”
We live our days with mundane responsibilities,
with lively interchanges, with novel and not so novel events.
When suddenly we look around us and
our babies are young men and women,
our grandchildren have graduated college,
and our friends are filled with decades of wisdom.
It all seems magically quick.
“Where did the time go?”
Well, as they say, “The years do fly."
With all these thoughts of time, we once again start a New Year.
There is the slower rhythm of each day and the speed of every year.
The slow daily rhythm gives us time to smile, time to be thoughtful,
and time to go the extra mile.
The quick moving years give us special memories and our personal history.
With both the daily and yearly factors, we have the opportunity to
fill life with happiness for those we know and love.
Each of our thoughts and acts can create personal warmth and achievement;
multiply that by hundreds of thousands of people doing
the same wonderful acts and
we achieve a better world.
My wish for you and all your loved ones,
is that we have a New Year that brings you
Happiness,
Good Health, and
An Abundance of Blessings.
May the seeds we sow in 2022,
bloom with beautiful and lasting blessings!
