Dear Reader,
I have always considered September the beginning of the year,
because students go back to school, teachers ready their lesson plans,
and the Jewish Calendar announces the beginning of a New Year.
A few years ago, I started sending these thoughts to my beloved
grandchildren and my most appreciated readers.
Today, I share this best self list with you.
To Do List
1 Be kind, for “Kindness is magical.”
2 Part of kindness is being supportive of others and yourself. Be grateful to those in your life who support you, love you, and stand by you selflessly.
3 Go the extra mile as a student and in your daily work; it is a gift to others and a forever gift to yourself.
4 Have compassion and empathy for other people. It makes you a better person and is uplifting to others.
5. Always practice the “Golden Rule.” Treat
all people with the grace and goodness you
enjoy being given.
6. Remember, what you do today will affect all
your tomorrows.
7. Think of the world as you’d like it to be, then
work to make it happen.
8. Remember, “If you think you can, then you can!”
9. As Henry James noted,
“There are three things in human life that
are important.
The first is to be kind;
the second is to be kind,
and the third is to be kind.”
10. It is important to know, “Family is one of nature’s master pieces;” be sure to be an active
member of your family.
“Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.” [Seneca]
All the above are acts of kindness that uniquely communicate a special way of living.
I know kindness is your focus, and to that end,
keep people in your life who are honest, good, and supportive.
They are the beautiful people whose traits will affect your life positively.
You, my dear reader, are a person of integrity, love, and kindness; share it with the world.
Have a Happy September!
Love and hugs,
Helene
